The Marine Mammal Expert Network is building on the work done for the Arctic Biodiversity Assessment including updating the species list table that appears in the "Mammals" chapter and providing data to the Arctic Biodiversity Data Service (ABDS).

Work on species richness, estimates of abundance, and the links between marine mammal trends and sea ice has been done.

A network specific to ringed seals was established and has developed suitable indicators.

The polar bear component of this network has completed their polar bear monitoring framework.

A presentation on the CBMP, specifically the Marine Mammals Expert Group was given at the 2014 Alaska Marine Science Symposium, where scientists from Alaska, the Pacific Northwest and beyond communicate research activities in the marine regions off of Alaska. The session had over 100 in attendance and was well received. Download a PDF of the presentation here.
